A schematic of the five service sectors around Denver: the north corridor along the top, northwest and central Denver in the middle, the foothills to the west and the south metro below. I-25 US 36 Central Denver Northwest Denver South metro Foothills North corridor
Schematic, not to scale and not a boundary — it shows how the five sectors sit against each other and against the two roads everything here is planned around.

Sector 03

Viking Repair in the South Metro Suburbs

The biggest kitchens in the metro are down here, and the widest equipment with them.

South of Denver the houses get larger and the appliances get wider. Forty-eight and sixty-inch ranges, refrigeration in panelled columns rather than in one cabinet, a second kitchen in a finished basement, and an outdoor run off the back of the house. Most of it went in during a build rather than a remodel, which means the cabinetry was made to the appliance and the appliance cannot be swapped for something narrower later.

That is an advantage on a service call and a constraint on a design one. Access is usually good, because the installer had room to work. What is tight is everything downstream: the circuit a dual fuel range needs, the gas the house has left after a furnace and a water heater, and the depth a column needs behind a panel. Those are decided once, at the drawing stage, and they are what the pages under this sector keep coming back to.

Spec check

Confirm each of these before anything is cut, ordered or delivered.

  1. The finished width of the opening, measured at the back as well as the front
  2. Whether the range is all-gas or dual fuel, and what circuit the installation instructions call for
  3. What else the gas meter is already carrying before a wider range is added
  4. For a basement kitchen: the ceiling height above the unit and the route the vent takes out

  • Every load stretched past three hours before it finished. The thermistor was reading low, so the machine kept waiting on water that was already hot. New sensor and cycles run normally again.

    Pearl S.Highland

  • It filled, hummed, and then sat there without ever washing a thing. A shard of glass had jammed the circulation impeller. He pulled the pump out, cleared it, reassembled, and ran a full cycle before calling the job done.

    Lorena F.Washington Park

  • Burners tipped yellow and sooted the copper hood after our remodel. The installer had never fitted the high-altitude orifices. He swapped them, reset the air shutters, and the flames burn blue again.

Cream wire brush, tongue-and-groove pliers, two blue drivers and a yellow driver above a long slotted arm, a roller bracket with its wheel and a small heap of bolts and nuts on a grey towel
