What the installation decides
Most of what looks like a fault is a setting
A burner installed with its shipping orifices is running rich for the air it has at this elevation, and it shows as a lazy yellow tip and soot on the pan bottoms rather than as a failure. Before a part is quoted, the flame is read cold and hot on every burner and the orifice is checked against what the manufacturer publishes for the address. It is a bag of brass and an hour, not a new range.

Everything behind a range is reached from the front, which means the range has to come forward. In a galley kitchen with an island behind it, or a run with a full-height cabinet hard against one side, that is the whole job.
