Viking Appliance Repair in Ken Caryl
The houses in the valley went up largely in the 1980s, and a good number of them are only now having the kitchen taken back to the studs for the first time. That makes this a place where the interesting questions arrive before the repairs do: what the original room was laid out for, and how much of it the new equipment intends to keep.
Housing stock
Builder kitchen of the 1980s
A kitchen drawn when a thirty-inch range and a single wall oven were the top of the range: cabinets in an L or a U against outside walls, a soffit closing the gap above them, and services sized for exactly what was standing there on handover day.
The soffit is where the hood argument happens
Putting a professional hood where a short cabinet and a boxed-in soffit used to be changes two things at once: how high the hood ends up over the cooking surface, and what the duct behind it has to do to get out. Whatever is up there now was sized for a much smaller appliance, and its route is often not the route a bigger one wants. Establish where the existing duct actually goes before the hood is chosen: the answer can decide which hood is worth choosing.
Services sized for the original appliances
The panel, the branch circuits and the gas run in a house of this age were specified for the equipment the builder installed. A wider range, a second oven or a dual fuel model asks more of all three, and none of them will say so until something trips. Have the electrician confirm the panel and the circuit, and the gas fitter confirm the supply over its run, while the walls are still open. Neither is our work, and both are cheaper settled then.
If the property is covenant-controlled
Where a property sits under an association, anything that changes the outside of the house can fall under an architectural review, and a new vent termination through a wall or a roof counts as a change to the outside. Confirm what applies at the address before the penetration is cut rather than afterwards.
Spec check
Confirm each of these before anything is cut, ordered or delivered.
- Where the existing hood duct runs once it leaves the soffit, and where it terminates
- What the panel and the range circuit were originally sized for, confirmed by the electrician
- What the gas supply carries over its full run, confirmed by the gas fitter
- Whether an association review applies to anything that changes the outside of the house

The undercounter unit in our pop-top island quit cooling weeks after the remodel finished. Drywall dust had packed the condenser and choked its fan. Cleaned out, fan freed, and it holds temperature now.
Halina K.Washington Park
The broil element arced, flashed, and left a scorch mark on the liner. Its terminal had burnt back inside the porcelain block. He renewed element and block together in one visit, then vacuumed up.
Bernadette F.Washington Park
Beads of water kept forming along the center divider every time the evaporative cooler ran. The mullion heater had failed open. He tested it cold, fitted a new one, and the sweating stopped.

Book a visit
A question now is cheaper than a change order later
$89 buys the visit and a complete diagnosis, and it comes straight off the bill once you approve a repair. Nothing gets ordered and nothing gets fitted until the number is in front of you.
